“But when the time was right, God sent his Son, and a woman gave birth to him. His Son obeyed the Law, so he could set us free from the Law, and we could become God’s children. Now that we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts. And his Spirit tells us that God is our Father. You are no longer slaves. You are God’s children, and you will be given what he has promised.”
Galatians 4:4-7
God the Father sent His only Son into the world at just the right time. From the world’s perspective -historically, politically, culturally – there was never a better time for Jesus to be born. But more importantly, in God’s eyes, it was the perfect time. Some Bible translations say, “in the fullness of time”. Think of pouring a Coke over ice. The “fizz” expands and rises and grows until… it overflows over the sides! That might illustrate the heart of the Father, as the anticipation rises at what He was about to offer those He created and loves so much.
Your Heavenly Father was so excited to send His gift of salvation to you in the form of His one and only Son! Imagine the joy – just as the choir of angels sang – of the Father and in the heavenly realms, as Jesus lie in the stable in the cold Bethlehem night. I know the love I have always felt when my children open the door and rush in on Christmas morning to see what was left under the tree! How much more the Father experienced as He offered His gift of eternal life to every person for all time who was ever born into the world!
The world’s timing was perfect.
The Father’s timing was perfect.
What about you? Is not this the best time to – just as God the Father gave – to give yourself totally, wholeheartedly, to Him? To lay down your poor, broken, tired efforts for His eternal, fulfilling, perfect new life in Christ? What better way to write on your heart, “Thank You!” for His indescribable gift?!
